Ilt vvould be difficult to install the Debian package handling system on an RPM-based system, but it is possible to convert Debian packages to RPMs and then install them as usual. The tool you need to do this is called alien, and if it’s not available vvith your chosen distro, then you can search for a copy on rpmfind.net
root partition in the ‘root- option, or by trying to boot an incorrectly installed distribution. You may vvant to try:
iinux root-/dev/hda5 init=/fatn/sh Of course, if you’ve got to the point of using the rescue disk, there is a more important problem vvhich you’ve not explained, so reinstalling vvith a recent distribution, should solve any problems.
