Hard drivin’
I am interested in using Linux alongside Windows on my Computer, t but I have a problem vvith installing it. When trying to install TurboLinux, the installer cannot find my hard drive. I am running an ATA 100 HD vvhich I have to define as an ATA 100 device in my BIOS, rather than an IDE hard drive. Does the Linux installer recognise ATA lOOs or vvill I have to vvait until a driver comes out?

II Linux vvill recognise the IDE controller,
1 vvhether or not it has support for the 1UDMA extensions. You may vvant to check to see if TurboLinux recognises the controller and vvhat it says about it during boot, as it vvill list ali drives vvhich are attached to it Also, it might be useful to see if fdisk at the command line (pness Ctrl-Alt-F2 to svvitch to another console) can find /dev/hda vvhich vvould indicate any problems vvith the TurboLinux installer. If you stili do not have any luck, it is probably best to try Mandrake or SuSE, both of vvhich come vvith kernels compiled vvith UDMA support and should recognise your IDE controller vvithout any trouble.
