Double drive dilemma

Double drive dilemma

I have recently intsalled a copy of

Corel Linux on my home Computer, as

I have been wanting to use this platform for a long time. I think I vvill install a 4.3GB extra hard drive, put ali the Linux applications on there and run a dual boot system. I have not attempted the install yet, as I want to be sure that I can run both Windows and Linux on different hard drives although not at the same time. I vvant to make sure I don’t mess up ali the software I presently have and use. Do you have any suggestions?

||f İl Windows is rather picky and needs to be

If k minstalİGd on the first Partition °fthG I **** 1 primary master drive in the system.

Putting aside that restriction, you can distribute

your Linux partitions as you choose. You might

vvant to put your second hard disk on the second

IDE controller and put your svvap partition on the

first hard disk, so svvap and the normal filesystem

don’t have to fight for IDE bandvvidth ali the time.

Other than that, you’ll vvant to install LILO on /dev/hda, rather than /dev/hdb or hdc, so that booting the machine vvill give you the LILO menü vvhere you can select the system to boot Most distributions vvill allovv you choose vvhere LILO is installed, so you vvon’t need to edit any configuration fileş later on.
