Google’a göre 64-bit, en son işlemci ve derleyici optimizasyonlarından faydalanıyor ve daha modern bir komut seti kullanıyor. Sonuç olarak özellikle grafiklerde ve çevrimiçi içeriklerde “yüzde 25″lik bir performans artışı gözleniyor.
64-bit’te Chrome’un kilitlenme oranı neredeyse yarıya düşüyor. Bunun yanında 64-bit’in getirdiği ek güvenlik işlevleri de var. Örneğin 64-bit Chrome, JIT spraying gibi tekniklere karşı daha iyi güvenlik sağlıyor.

Announcing the new 64 bit version of Chrome for Windows users, Google said that the new architecture will bring better speed, security and stability for Chrome users.
Today we’re announcing the addition of 64-bit support to Chrome, with two brand new 64-bit Dev and Canary channels for Windows 7 and 8 users, giving a faster and more secure browsing experience. To try it out, download the 64-bit installer from our Canary or Dev download pages. The new version replaces the existing version while preserving all your settings and bookmarks, so there’s no need to uninstall a current installation of Chrome.
“The majority of our users on Windows 7 or higher now have systems capable of running 64-bit applications, and this version of Chrome can take full advantage of these newer capabilities. This includes several improvements that align perfectly with Chrome’s core principles of speed, security and stability:”
At present, the 64 bit Chrome is available only on Developer channel and Canary. Once the Chrome team receives enough feedback from users and developers on the performance of this new build, they will push it to the beta and stable status. This may take a few weeks.
